Indian Education System

There is a lot of rage in India against the Indian Education system, considering why British established it (the intention behind establishing it)? Is it serving the modern needs of education? Let me first make it clear that I am a product of Indian Education system. And it served a great purpose for me in communicating with the world outside India and gathering world-wide knowledge. So I am a supporter of the British Established Indian Education System. It is also a fact that this system must have gone through many changes after Independence, but I am not a eye witness for the changes country-wide. Because I was not on the forum, making the changes. There are allegations on the British, that they wanted to educate only a small population just enough to act as an interpreter between masses and the British and had a small budget assigned to it. Other way to look at why British wanted only a few people to get introduced to this education system, might be 1. Any large change has to "start small" somewhere 2. They may not want to disturb the "originality" of people of India "all at once". I think, Indians did not keep patience with the spreading of education. I am sure of the fact that there are rare chances, that "The right of education" could have been DENIED by the British "if asked for" in the future. If India wanted to go for its own education system, the process should have started "immediately", after Independence. There are few such initiatives taken, like establishing IITs and providing the "highest and latest education' there. It is a great initiative. But my question is why not every student have access to "highest and latest education"? Any ways ... the answer is "things just take time" ! There has to be that many number of great faculties to deliver quality education. It will take time to bring up those many faculties. I wish there will be many more IITs established in future and quality education will reach more and more students. I am also of the opinion that rather than reverting back the British education system "on a large scale", we should also "start small". Give a few students an exposure to the ancient Indian education system. Let us monitor how effective our education system was ! Let us monitor if our education system opens up new opportunities for Indians as well as for non-Indians. Let us monitor if it cultivates ingenuity. Let us monitor if it cultivates a talent which can face the world (not only India). But the only fear is, it is a risk on the young student's life/career prospects. The student (in future), should not get a feeling that he/she has lost the prospects by following the ancient system. There are few organizations, which are working towards this direction. They should share their findings. Rest all, we should leave to "Time"!
